Hello again and welcome to another column by yours truly Wishwarriorx.
More after the jump. So now that you know the story, lets get down to some of the latest things to talk about. In this case its the Nintendo Wii. I have had my Wii now for about 5 months now. I have had a chance to play 2 fighters to this date. They are Dragon Ball, and Mortal Kombat. with this i thought i would give a brief idea as to how i feel about these games and how they compare to the other console versions.First off lets talk about Dragon Ball. I did get a chance to play both the PS2 version (thanks to my friend Tim) and the WII Version (thanks to Blockbuster sponsoring me for game reviews) and i thought both version played very well. The Wii version i felt were allot smoother as far as controls. When doing the dashes and teleports there were very natural to do with the numchuck and button press combinations. in fact i found it allot easier to do than with the ps2 version. The specials however where allot more difficult to perform on the WII than they were on the PS2, requiring you to hold a button then perform a series of movements in order launch your special. However when it came down to it, I really enjoyed the WII version more because it really felt like it brought you into the game more. for the most part the controls didn't seem to gimmicky at all. (there were a few times it did were shaking the remote was needed) both are great version but my pick in this one is going to be the WII. Now onto Mortal Kombat, again i was able to play both of these games. I have played the PS2 version for some time now (Thanks to my friend Brian) so i have a general idea of how to play the game and how the kontrols work. Just recently though the Wii version was released and i was able to test this version out (again thanks to blockbuster) since the ps2 version is pretty much the same old same old that mortal kombat has used for ever (control wise) i will mainly concintrate on the likes and dislikes of the WII version. The first thing i wanted to do when playing the wii version is try out all the different characters special movies (seeing as how almost all characters are the same minus the specials) the unique idea of hold a button and using movements for the specials was a pretty cool idea. however i found trying to work these into combos were kinda awkward. As for the rest of the controls they seemed fairly straight forward however trying to use the D pad for different controls really seemed out of place. In the case of which version i enjoyed more i would have to go with the PS2, Why well the controls didn't seemed to balanced for me. I liked how the specials were performed but i really disliked how the regular moves and blocking were done in this game and made it a bit difficult to pull off the same combos i would on PS2. although to be fair it may just take some getting used to. i remember having similar problems when i first started playing Mortal Kombat and the same could be true here. May just be a learning curve. so take the above comments with a grain of salt. Well thats all for this weeks article, until next time WWX out.
