If you look at games today there all the same idea’s but with less replay, less value, higher price tags, and a bunch of graphic whores who think the only thing needed to sell a game is graphics and a good advertising ploy. Now I'm not saying all new games are this way we still have great games coming out. Games like GTA, TEKKEN, God Of War, Devil May Cry and many others. However even these games don’t seem to always hold up to what seemed like great game play and original idea’s of the past. So what does this give us for a video game future? Its proof in the package! Both 360 and PS3 are doing what they can to push graphic boundaries. And if the 360 launch shows anything it’s all about the graphics and little about the game play. With the exception of PRG3 and DOA4 I consider every other 360 luke warm and boring after playing for a short time. Because of this I don’t see much in the way of originality the only thing I see coming with the new power houses is better graphics and little else. That is not what the VG industry needs and is not next generation. However there may be a chance with Nintendo who’s entire plan revolves around new ideas, innovation and originality. This may not work for all types of games. A good example would be old school 2d games like street fighter ,but the way Nintendo is going could create all new type of games including fighting games that could make Sony and MS wish they had thought of it first. We will see in the next few years if this industry will begin to die. Will new games adopt these repetitive practices while we old gamers wish they were like they were before? I hope the new ideas of Nintendo catch on in all platforms and begin to move video games to a new future. Because if things don’t change video games will start to become a boring world indeed. |
